RSMSSB Junior Engineer Exam Scheme & Marking Pattern
The selection board has outlined a clear exam structure for the Junior Engineer (Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical) posts. The paper is split into two sections: Part A checks your knowledge of Rajasthan, while Part B tests your engineering discipline. Both sections combine for a total of 120 marks to be finished in a two-hour window.
| Exam Part | Subject Area | Marks Allocation | Time Limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Part A | General Knowledge of Rajasthan (History, Art, Culture, Heritage, Geography, and Administrative System) | 40 Marks | 2 Hours (Total Time) |
| Part B | Concerned Engineering Specialization (Civil / Electrical / Mechanical) | 80 Marks | Combined with Part A |
| Total | Complete Examination Paper | 120 Marks | 120 Minutes |
Important Rules and Penalty Guidelines
- The test will have objective-type multiple-choice questions only, and all questions carry equal marks.
- You need to score at least 40% minimum marks to be considered eligible for the selection list.
- There is negative marking, where 1/3 (one-third) of a mark is deducted for every incorrect attempt.
- Your OMR sheet has five options (A, B, C, D, and E). If you decide not to answer a question, you must darken the circle 'E'.
- If you do not mark any of the five options, 1/3 mark will still be deducted from your total score for that question.
- Leaving more than 10% of total questions completely blank (without marking even option E) will result in straight disqualification.
General Knowledge (Part A) Syllabus Topics
Part A is identical for all engineering streams and tests candidates on their local understanding of Rajasthan. It includes historical sources, major dynasties, traditional arts, folk music, local festivals, and tourist sites. Additionally, candidates should prepare topics in Rajasthan's physical geography like soil types, climate divisions, rivers, irrigation projects, and wildlife conservation.
