Eligibility Criteria & Age Limits
- Nationality: Must be a citizen of India, Nepal, Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who settled in India before 1st January 1962.
- Educational Qualification: Must hold a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university as on 01.07.2026.
- Age Limit: Minimum 21 years and maximum 30 years as of 1st July 2026. Candidates must have been born between 2nd July 1996 and 1st July 2005 (both dates inclusive).
- Language Proficiency: Knowing how to read, write, and speak the regional language of the state you are applying for is essential. A regional language test will be held prior to final selection.
- Age Relaxation: Standard relaxations are applicable, including 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates.
Selection Process for NICL Assistants
The selection procedure is pretty straightforward but highly competitive. It involves three stages starting with a Phase I Preliminary Online Exam consisting of English Language, Reasoning Ability, and Quantitative Aptitude for 100 marks. Candidates who qualify the prelims will appear for the Phase II Main Exam, which features 5 sections for 200 marks. The final phase is a qualifying Regional Language Test to ensure you are comfortable communicating in the local language of the respective state where you will be posted.
